Questions

Frequently asked questions.

If it is not here, just ask, we would rather answer than have you guess.

Will you ever call me out of the blue?

No, never. We only get in touch because you contacted us first. Fake "tech support" cold calls are a common scam, if anyone calls claiming to be us or any other IT support out of nowhere, hang up. See our staying safe page for more.

Does remote support mean you take control of my computer?

Not always. A lot of remote support is just a phone call talking you through a fix. When a screen share genuinely helps, we ask first, you can see everything that happens, and you stay in control throughout, ending the session whenever you like.

Do you repair broken laptops or phones?

No, laptops and phones need specialist parts and tools we do not carry, so for those we will say so honestly and point you towards someone who can help. We do repair desktop PC hardware, and can supply keyboards, mice and other basic peripherals if you need them.

What is the difference between General, Home and Business support?

General Tech Support is a quick phone call for basic troubleshooting when you are not sure what is wrong. Home IT Support and Business IT Support go deeper, networks, accounts, backups and security, for your house or your business specifically.

Is there anything I can try myself first?

Often, yes. Our quick troubleshooting guide covers the most common problems, WiFi, a slow computer, printers, forgotten passwords and suspicious pop-ups, with a few safe things to try before you call anyone.

Do you cover my area?

Remote support is available anywhere in the UK. On-site visits currently cover Teesside and the surrounding area. Get in touch and we will confirm straight away whether a visit is possible where you are.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the job, so we agree the cost with you before any work starts, not after. No hourly surprises and no hidden charges.

How quickly can you help?

We will always tell you upfront when we can get to you, whether that is the same day by remote support or a booked visit. For anything urgent, call or WhatsApp us directly.

I think I have been caught out by a fake tech support call, what do I do?

Do not feel embarrassed, these scams fool careful people. Turn off the computer or disconnect it from the internet, contact your bank if any payment was made, and see our staying safe page for the full list of steps, including how to report it.

Is Roseberry IT connected to BlueDevLabs?

Yes. Roseberry IT is a trading name of BlueDevLabs Ltd, a UK registered company. Same team, same standards, just focused on home and business IT support. One side effect: replies to your emails come from a bluedevlabs.com address rather than roseberryit.co.uk, that is still us.
