Worth knowing

We will never cold call you.

Fake "tech support" calls are one of the most common scams around. We only ever get in touch because you contacted us first, and we will never ask for remote access, payment by gift card, or for a call to be kept secret.

How to spot a scam

  • We never cold call about a "problem" with your computer
  • We never ask for remote access before you have asked us for help
  • We never ask you to pay by gift card or under pressure
  • If in doubt, hang up and call us back on our published number

Questions

Before you get in touch.

Will you ever call me out of the blue?

No, never. We only get in touch because you contacted us first. Fake "tech support" cold calls are a common scam, if anyone calls claiming to be us or any other IT support out of nowhere, hang up. See our staying safe page for more.

Does remote support mean you take control of my computer?

Not always. A lot of remote support is just a phone call talking you through a fix. When a screen share genuinely helps, we ask first, you can see everything that happens, and you stay in control throughout, ending the session whenever you like.

Do you repair broken laptops or phones?

No, laptops and phones need specialist parts and tools we do not carry, so for those we will say so honestly and point you towards someone who can help. We do repair desktop PC hardware, and can supply keyboards, mice and other basic peripherals if you need them.

What is the difference between General, Home and Business support?

General Tech Support is a quick phone call for basic troubleshooting when you are not sure what is wrong. Home IT Support and Business IT Support go deeper, networks, accounts, backups and security, for your house or your business specifically.

Is there anything I can try myself first?

Often, yes. Our quick troubleshooting guide covers the most common problems, WiFi, a slow computer, printers, forgotten passwords and suspicious pop-ups, with a few safe things to try before you call anyone.
